This Bhopal-based startup has impressed Anand Mahindra with its driverless car using Bolero model

In 2019, Sanjeev Sharma won the award for ‘51 Most Impactful Smart Cities Leaders Award (Global Listing).'

Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, recently praised a Bhopal-based startup that turned a Mahindra Bolero into a driverless SUV using autonomous driving technology.

Mahindra shared the video on his post on social media platform X and said, “Evidence of tech innovation rising across India. An engineer who’s not building yet another delivery app. @sanjeevs_iitr is using complex math to target level 5 autonomy. I’m cheering loudly. And certainly won’t debate his choice of car!”

Sanjeev Sharma is the founder and CEO of the startup Swaayatt Robot and Deep Eigen. He also won the award for ‘51 Most Impactful Smart Cities Leaders Award (Global Listing)’ in 2019.

In the video, one can see the steering wheel of the Boldero model turning and twisting to manoeuvre the car on the road. The video also delves into how the technology can help the Mahindra Bolero tackle an empty street, a street with pedestrians, and even one with very heavy traffic without any defaults.

The post has over 824 K views and 2.2 K reshares with comments from netizens praising the invention. One user said, “Man !! An autonomous driverless car tested on Indian roads amidst Indian traffic condition .. that’s the ultimate used case test that can ever be.”

Another user chimed in saying, “happy that @sanjeevs_iitr efforts got noticed.” A third user suggested, “If this technology is implemented in India and is successful on Indian roads, then it can be implemented even on Mars and @elonmusk can forget Tesla FSD.”

Another wrote, “Having worked in this area for quite sometime, I must say this is brilliant!! It will take 400+ years anyone to collect real test drive data that mimics all possible scenarios statistically. This is sheer algorithmic brilliance and high quality data collection(with love).”
