The city of Bengaluru is not only known as an IT hub but also for the enterprising and innovative nature of its people. Netizens often share instances when they were surprised by the tech-savviness of the city residents and dub these experiences as “Peak Bengaluru” moments.
One such instance was shared on X, formerly Twitter, by an account named The Bengaluru Man (@BetterBengaluro). He took an Uber cab in the city and the driver, Lokesh, informed him that he had launched an app called Nano Travels to compete with Uber and Ola. Lokesh said he has enlisted more than 600 drivers on his app and even launched its iOS version, he wrote.
Since being posted on December 20, the tweet has received more than 50,000 views. One user commented, “There was this Taxi driver Lokesh who once gave me a ride from the airport. He was very enterprising and asked me to call him in case I needed a ride to the airport and said he has a group of taxi drivers that work together. Wonder if it’s the same guy.”
The user who posted the original tweet replied to him and wrote, “Wow. Could be the same guy. Even this Lokesh sounded very enterprising. Told this was his idea and company. Told about how he got the coding of the app done from a company and asked to call him if he needed a cab.”
“What is the use for us. From my area to airport every time am paying 900 to 1000 but these app showing 1490. Its more expensive than airport taxi. Any way all the best for his new startup,” said another.
“What is the benefit for user of this service. If fares are same and as another “aggregator” what is the benefit to even fellow cab driver, if commission is around same or just 5% less?” yet another user asked. The user @BetterBengaluro said the driver told him that they did not have surge rates.
“Haha, good way to drive uber and market his own app. Won’t survive though. Enterprising is cool but its not when its just an app,” a netizen posted.
