A Bengaluru couple has set social media abuzz after revealing that they spent Rs 5.9 lakh in a single month—out of which Rs 3.5 lakh went just on travel bookings.

Prakriti and Ashish Arora, who document their everyday life on Instagram as the “Travel Couple,” shared a reel breaking down their August expenses. The video has already crossed three million views.

They began with rent, Rs 42,000 for their apartment. Fitness was another major expense. “Both of us have personal trainers, and I went to Pilates classes this month, which cost us Rs 40,000,” Prakriti shared. Groceries tailored to their diet added another Rs 20,000.

Bills for electricity, OTT subscriptions, and cleaning services came to Rs 10,000, while eating out and food deliveries cost Rs 13,000. The couple also allocated Rs 1 lakh for SIPs, while day-to-day expenses like cabs, insurance, grooming, and gifts touched Rs 15,000.

The biggest splurge, however, was travel. “We booked flights and hotels for the next two international and two domestic trips, which cost us a total of Rs 3.5 lakh,” they revealed.

In the caption, the duo admitted that money used to be a sticking point in their relationship, saying their early days of financial planning had a “rocky start.” Over time, they said, open conversations and regular “money meetings” have helped them strike a balance between saving, spending, and keeping aside an emergency fund. “Because you’re not just living with your life partner, you’re also building a life with them… if we can work our way around money-talk, any couple can,” they wrote.

The post drew sharp reactions. One person wrote, “You called me poor in so many languages.” Another pointed out, “There are people who earn more than this couple, spend lesser and don’t flex at all.” A third said, “You mentioned expenses but how much should be earned to be this way.. share that too.” One Instagram user commented, “Am I the only one who feels like- My half yearly earnings are lesser than your monthly expenses.”
