Last month, British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran teamed up with Indian playback sensation Arijit Singh for a cross-cultural single titled Sapphire. Blending Western pop with Punjabi musical influences, the track has taken the Internet by storm, marking Sheeran’s first collaboration with an Indian artist.

Amid the song’s growing popularity, fans and content creators have taken to social media with their own takes on the music video. One parody, in particular, has gone viral for its hilarious twist. The parody begins with the creator, who resembles Singh, lip-syncing the Punjabi verse while riding a bike alone. He continues solo through the chorus, with on-screen text humorously reading, “Ed Sheeran peeche gir gaya” (Ed Sheeran fell off the bike).

Shared on Instagram by user @commentrrr with the caption “Urgent Singh”. The video has amassed over 208K views and 12.8K likes on Instagram, with users flooding the comment section with witty reactions.

One user wrote, “Arijit Sethupati,” while another said, “He said say-phayer instead of sapphire.” Many others made comments saying, “Vijay Sethupathi first copy” and “Same same but different.”

Released on June 5, 2025, Sapphire is the third single from Sheeran’s upcoming album Play under Gingerbread Man Records and Atlantic Records UK. The song debuted at number nine on the UK Singles Chart, becoming Sheeran’s 43rd top-10 hit in his home country. Arijit Singh’s vocals, though uncredited, have been widely praised and are central to the track’s Indian-Punjabi theme.

The official music video, directed by Liam Pethick, was shot across multiple Indian cities, including Hyderabad, Kolkata, Shillong, and Arijit’s hometown, Murshidabad.

The visuals capture Sheeran immersed in Indian street culture, riding auto-rickshaws, playing football with local children, and exploring bustling bazaars. Key locations include Sultan Bazar, Ramoji Film City, Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad, and Jawaharlal Nehru Football Stadium in Shillong. Singh appears throughout the video, including a charming scooter ride shared with Sheeran. The video also features a surprise cameo from Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan, who lip-syncs part of the chorus, adding to the video’s massive appeal.
