Living up to their word, a team of 50 chefs created a world record by cooking 918 kg ‘khichdi’ live at the World Food India 2017 event in New Delhi. Multi-grains such as rice, bajra, ans ragi, as well as pulses, vegetables and spices were used to prepare the traditional dish. Before the official announcement of the record, renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor, who led the team, said the khichdi preparation in the big kadhai (wok) using steam had started from Friday night. Later, the organisers confirmed that their attempt to prepare Brand India khichdi using 800 kg of grains had entered the Guinness World Records.

Sharing some pictures from the event, Kapoor wrote on Twitter: “This is what goes into making the World’s largest batch of Khichdi. #KhichdiForWorldRecord #WorldFoodIndia @SanjeevKapoor.” Check out his tweet here.

And, here’s how Guinness Book of World Records declared it as a world record in this video. “We did it, we broke the record! Our #Khichdi has weighed in at an impressive 918kgs! #KhichdiForWorldRecord #FoodStreet #WorldFoodIndia,” World Food India tweeted.
