Most women ignore the DMs (direct messages) that they receive from men on social media platforms, mostly as an attempt to discourage unrequited advances. However, a woman who took a chance and responded to one such DM, now ended up marrying the guy she “met” on X (formally Twitter).
In a now-viral post, X user @samxrzraf shared a screenshot of a DM that her husband sent her five years ago, alongside a photo of them on their wedding day. In the text exchange, the guy wrote, “I’m just going to tell you that I really like you. Like REALLY REALLY like you”. To this she replied, “OMG loooool no u don’t. Trust me”.
While sharing these pictures, @samxrzraf wrote, “fast forward 5 years later and turns out he really REALLY did like me”. This post has gathered over four lakh views so far. In a follow-up tweet, @samxrzraf wrote, “moral of the story: give the guy sending you niche memes in ur dms a chance!”.
Commenting on this post, an X user jokingly remarked, “someone who REALLY REALLY likes me pls show up”. Another person wrote, “I don’t understand how this #WemetonTwitter works, I’ve been here for more than a decade now lol..”.
This is not the only love story that started on social media and materialised in a wedding. In January, a US woman named Sarah Weaver shared how she got engaged to a man who had asked her out in a direct message on X.
Weaver shared a photograph with her fiancé along with the screenshot of the first DM he had sent her. His message read, “Hey again! Would you be interested in letting me take you on a date sometime? We have a lot in common and I think we’d enjoy getting to know each other. I don’t live terribly far from Hillsdale. I’d be happy to drive down sometime and buy you dinner if you were up for it?”
