A New Jersey Uber Eats driver was amused to find an ounce of marijuana wrapped in foil instead of the burrito she thought she was delivering.

The unusual incident unfolded in Washington Township, Camden County, according to the New York Post. The driver had picked up the order from Lindenwold on Friday night, believing it was a normal meal that included a burrito, soup, and a water bottle.

However, as she made her way to the drop-off location in Glassboro, a strong and suspicious smell caught her attention. “She believed something didn’t smell right with her delivery package. She thought it smelled like marijuana,” said Patrick Gurcsik, Washington Township police chief, as quoted in the report.

Alarmed, the driver decided to pull over and alert the police. On inspection, officers found no food in the foil-wrapped item, just a large ziplock bag filled with raw marijuana. The police are now investigating how the illicit package ended up in the delivery.

Police photos revealed an attempt to disguise drugs as burritos, with the packaging appearing hastily wrapped. Authorities believe someone tried to misuse Uber‘s package delivery service, which strictly bans the transportation of drugs, alcohol, or medication.

In the post, the police urged anyone who has information about the “extra greens” to reach out to them.

“‘The ‘burrito’ is now in evidence, and we’re cooking up an investigation. If you know anything about this high-flying delivery, call our Detective Bureau at 856-589-0330,” the police wrote in the caption of an Instagram post they made.

An Uber representative referred to the situation as “highly concerning” and commended the driver for quickly notifying local law enforcement. They encouraged other drivers to report any similar questionable deliveries.
