An unanticipated incident unfolded during the India vs Bangladesh ICC T20 World Cup warm-up match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York as a fan breached the security and invaded the pitch to meet Rohit Sharma.
In a viral video, the fan can be seen running through the pitch to reach the Indian skipper. As the fan hugs Sharma, security personnel rushes to him and tackles him. However, the cricketer was seen asking the officials to be gentle with the fan and not hurt him. The officials then escorted the fan out of the field.
Sharing the video, an X user Mufaddal Vohra wrote, “The fan who breached the field and hugged Rohit Sharma was taken down by the USA police. Rohit requested the officers to go easy on them.”

The viral video garnered over 1.2 million views, and many social media users reacted to it. “A lot of people may not know this but the way fan was tackled by the cop is considered very polite manner in United States,” a user commented. “Abbey this is not subcontinent police. If Rohit interferes with the cops duty, he might get a couple of lafas too,” another user wrote.
“I shot this video and it’s true, players safety is a big concern in these stadiums,” a third user commented.
Earlier, a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fan tried to steal a ball while watching the IPL 2024 match. The video showed the fan, wearing a ‘Rinku’ jersey, trying to put the ball in his pocket as it landed near him after being hit by the cricketers. However, a cop soon swooped in, confronted him and made him hand over the ball. The man was also kicked out of the stadium.
