Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei and his wife, Princess Anisha Rosnah, are all set to welcome their first child. Prince Mateen, 34, son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, shared the pregnancy news on Instagram with a black-and-white photograph of the couple holding hands on a balcony, while Princess Anisha held her baby bump.
“And then there were 3,” Prince Mateen wrote in the caption.
The post quickly went viral with several users congratulating the couple. “Congratulations Prince and PAI!! So happy for the both of you,” a user wrote. “Congratulations.. you’re the perfect couple,” another user commented.
“What a wonderful photo! I was so moved from so far away! Congratulations on this important step in your lives. May God bless you more and more! And please don’t skimp on the photos… We want to see you with all the beauty and grace that only you two possess,” a third user wrote.
Prince Mateen is the tenth child and fourth son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his former second wife, Mariam Abdul Aziz, and currently stands sixth in line to the Bruneian throne.
He got married to his childhood friend, Anisha Rosnah, in a grand 10-day wedding celebration in January 2024. Before her royal marriage, Anisha, 29, belonged to a high-profile family. Her grandfather, Pehin Dato Isa, was a trusted advisor to the Sultan and a prominent government official during the 60s and 70s. Her brother, Danial Deen Isa-Kalebic, is also known to share a close friendship with the prince.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the world’s longest-reigning monarch, belongs to a dynasty that has ruled Brunei for more than six centuries. The Bruneian royal family is considered among the wealthiest in the world, PEOPLE reported.
