Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 75 on September 17. On the occasion, Italian chef Valentino Rahim paid a unique culinary tribute in Rome by baking a tricolour millet pizza at Zoya, a renowned restaurant. The dish honoured Modi’s international campaign to promote millets as a superfood.

Chef Rahim crafted the pizza base entirely from millets, a nod to the Prime Minister’s advocacy for sustainable farming and healthy eating. The toppings and sauces were arranged in the colours of the Indian flag: saffron, white, and green. “Tanti Auguri Modi,” said Rahim in Italian, which translates to “many many best wishes.”

In the viral video, shared by ANI, Rahim can be seen preparing the pizza toppings, like bell pepper and pepperoni, and finally tossing the pizza. He praised Modi’s initiative, saying, “PM Modi’s idea of promoting millets as a superfood is very creative and inspiring.”

The chef noted that millets offer a solution to several global challenges, such as food insecurity, climate change, and farmer livelihoods, while also promoting healthier dietary habits around the world.

The video quickly went viral, garnering a flurry of social media reactions. “Love this! A creative way to celebrate and a tasty tribute to PM Modi’s vision. Truly shows global appreciation!” a user wrote. “One thing is for sure: these foreigners know exactly how to get views and publicity in India,” another user commented.

“Incredible tribute. Love seeing PM Modi’s vision celebrated worldwide,” a third user reacted.

PM Modi has been a key force behind the international millet movement. His efforts culminated in the United Nations declaring 2023 as the International Year of Millets, a significant milestone in global nutrition policy.

Meanwhile, India is gearing up for a 15-day campaign titled Seva Pakhwada, launched by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to commemorate PM Modi’s birthday.
