Modern Family is one of the most-loved American sitcoms. Starring Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Ed O’Neill, Sarah Hyland, Eric Stonestreet, Nolan Gould, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ariel Winter, Aubrey Anderson and Rico Rodriguez in the lead roles, the show ran for 10 years, creating a fandom for itself. Amid several speculations of the show getting a reboot, WhatsApp released a new commercial featuring Phil and Claire (played by Bowen and Burrell, respectively), and Mitchell and Cam (played by Stonestreet and Ferguson, respectively).
The viral commercial has been shot at the iconic Dunphy’s house. The video begins with Cam talking about Hailey’s twins. “The picture Hailey sent of the twins! It’s so precious,” he says. Mitchell overhears him talking to Claire and Phil and asks them to show him the picture. “It’s in the group chat,” Phil says.
Learning about a family group, Mitchell screeches, “You started a family chat without me. Aah! Shame!” The trio blames his new phone and says, “It’s not you, it’s your new phone. Blurry photos, weird likes.”
A carpenter painting the furniture jumps into the conversation and says, “If your group has different phones, use WhatsApp. It’s seamless and private.” Towards the end of the video, Cam and Mitchell can be seen enjoying WhatsApp features.
“Cross device friction is real, IYKYK. good thing we exist,” WhatsApp wrote on X.

Shared on June 18, fans flocked to the comment section, demanding a Modern Family spinoff. “I need them back together immediately and I’m so serious!!!” a fan wrote. “They reunited for a WhatsApp COMMERCIAL, I thought the show was coming back Omg,” another fan wrote.
“Holyshit they all still look exactly the same lmao but rip I thought it was gonna be a spinoff,” a third fan said. “Just bring it BACKKKK,” another fan reacted.
Last month, Stonestreet shared a picture of Ferguson on his Instagram story which created a massive buzz around the show’s reunion.
