Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape industries and inspire creative experiments online. While many use AI to boost productivity, others are reimagining old memories. Recently, Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, turned a decade-old still photograph into a short video using Grok Imagine.
In a now-viral post, Maye shared a step-by-step guide for the process. The clip shows her stepping out of a car in a striking multi-coloured striped gown. “How to get still photos into videos. This photo is 10 years old. Open @grok and click on Create Videos. On the lower left square with a +, choose a photo. Uploading and Generating Video appear. Then post on X. Imagine,” she wrote.
Elon Musk reposted the video, captioning it: “How to use @Grok Imagine to turn your photos into videos.”

With over three million views, the post amassed a range of reactions. Several social media users hailed the feature, with one saying, “Maye is so stunning, what wonderful keepsakes these videos are becoming.”
“The only thing wrong with grok, as far as I can tell at the moment, is its inability to see artistic shapes and forms that are what the artist envisioned. No biggie,” another user noted. “grok is improving day by day! one day, film director will make a first ever movie just writing a script via grok and convert it into video!” a third user reacted.
It all started with the Ghibli trend earlier this year, which led to a worldwide discussion on AI killing creativity and hard work. The trend, a feature rolled out by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, allows users to turn their photos into Studio Ghibli-inspired images.
