Booze and snacks make it an ideal chill-out scene with friends. While many food items can be consumed with liquor, drinking is incomplete without ‘chakna’ (munchies) in the ‘desi’ culture. Recently, MasterChef Australia judge Andy Allen tasted popular ‘chaknas’ and rated them out of 10.

From ‘masala peanuts’ to ‘murukku’ to ‘chilli cheese bhujia’, Allen tasted a range of ‘desi chaknas’ in the viral video. While Allen gave five out of five to ‘chilli cheese bhujia’ and ‘masala peanuts’, he gave zero to ‘cheeselings’. “It looks like a sea urchin. That’s okay, like I’d had it with some salt. Three and a half out of five. I think the winner would be the first one or the peanuts. it’s probably dead heat between these two,” he said after he tries ‘murukku’.

Shared by the Instagram handle @enthucutletmag, the caption read, “Australia meets desi chakna! We got Masterchef Andy Allen to try these desi ones and he picks his favourite! What is your pick?”

“When did cherry cheese pineapple become a desi chakna. Need some explanation for that,” a third user wrote.

Earlier, Indian-origin contestant Sumeet Saigal left the MasterChef Australia judges spellbound after she served them a plate of panipuri. The video showed the judges tasting the beloved Indian street food for the first time and giving it a thumbs up.
