An Indian-origin data scientist was fired from his job after a video of him explaining how he gets ‘free’ food at Canadian food banks went viral.
In the video that was shared to X by a user who goes by the @Slatzism, the man in question, living and working in Canada, could be seen claiming that he saved hundreds of dollars every month by getting food for free from the charity banks set up by churches, trusts or NGOs at colleges and universities.
Sharing the video, the user wrote, “This guy has a job as a bank data scientist for @TD_Canada, a position that averages $98,000 per year, and proudly uploaded this video showing how much “free food” he gets from charity food banks. You don’t hate them enough.”

In an update, the user informed that the data scientist was fired after his video went viral. The user also attached an image of an email from the Canadian company. “Thank you for bringing the video to our attention. The alleged actions and messages captured in the video do not align with our TD values or culture of care. I can confirm that the individual named in the video no longer works at TD,” the email read.
The post amassed over 3,39,000 views, dividing the platform with varied reactions. “Ah this is actually sad. He made a mistake but what is he going to do now that he’s jobless? Probably needs this work for immigration too. Rather shame someone than shame + unnecessary job loss,” a user commented. “Canada opens its doors to them and they laugh at Canadians? It was too much to see. Justice is served,” another user wrote.
“You guys really hate us.. why invite to your country in 1st place.. hate us enough and we will love to have all Indians back,” a user from India reacted.
