A US eatery named Indian Crepe Co has stirred online chatter with its menu revamp, featuring dishes like ‘dunked doughnut delight’, ‘dunked rice cake delight’, ‘naked crepe’, and ‘smashed potato crepe,’ reported First Post. In the image, we see a picture of medu vadas in sambar, called “Dunked Doughnut Delight”. Below the title, the text states, “2 deep fried savoury doughnuts dipped in lentil soup.”

The next item on the list is idli with sambar, called “Dunked Rice Cake Delight”. It is further described as, “Type of savoury rice cake made by steaming a batter consisting of fermented black lentils and rice, dipped in lentil soup.”

Finally, plain dosa with chutney and sambar is mentioned. It is listed as a “Naked Crepe” and described as a “Crisp rice batter crepe served with a lentil soup, a tangy tomato and classic coconut relish.”

These dishes come at steep prices—$18.69 (Rs 1,491, approximately) for the smashed potato crepe, $17.59 (Rs 1,404, approximately) for the naked crepe, $16.49 (Rs 1,316, approximately) for the dunked doughnut delight, and $15.39 (Rs 1,228, approximately) for the dunked rice cake delight.

Reacting to the post, one user said, “Calling it Naked Crepe is an insult to all South Indians.” Another user remarked on the price and said, “Price is so high. Rs. 1300 to 1500 per plate..”

A third user wrote, “Yes.. in NYC it’s this fancy. Elsewhere.. we are back to basics.” Another user said, “Shakespeare lovers will say ” idli, vada, dosa by any other name would smell as sweet or savoury!!” Maybe Gen Z would eat them only if fancy names r given?!”
