Google Doodle on Sunday marked the final match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) of the 2024 Indian Premier League season (IPL), which will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
“This Doodle celebrates the final match of the 2024 Indian Premier League season, also known as IPL17 or TATA IPL 2024, taking place in Chennai. This year’s tournament has been brimming with excitement, and many are eager to see which team will be crowned champion,” the Google Doodle description read.
“The tournament started with ten teams from all over India split into two different groups. Every team played a total of 14 games — seven home and seven away. After the group stage, the top four teams advanced to the high-stakes Qualifier and Eliminator stages. Through perseverance and teamwork, both teams have come out on top to face off in the IPL17 finals. Good luck!” it added.
The doodle features an illustration of a wicket with a bat, ball and stumps arranged in a way it spells Google. On either side of the pitch are KKR and SRH fans cheering for their respective teams.
On Saturday, the official handle of IPL shared a series of photos of KKR’s Shreyas Iyer and SRH’s Pat Cummins sitting with the trophy by Marina Beach in Chennai. “Two Captains. One Trophy. And an eventful Chennai evening. All eyes on the #Final.”

KKR clinched the top position in the league stage with nine wins, three losses, and two no results, accumulating 20 points. They earned a direct spot in the final by defeating SRH in Qualifier One. SRH, meanwhile, secured their place in the final by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier Two with a 36-run victory.
