German travel vlogger Alex Welder recently shared his experience with India’s metro facility. In the video, he expressed his amazement at the cleanliness and overall efficiency of metro services in Indian cities like Delhi and Agra.

In the now-viral video, Welder highlighted the modern infrastructure, seamless operations, and affordability, mentioning that it went beyond his expectations. He also compared it to metro systems in Western Europe, stating that India’s metro is not only comparable but, in certain aspects, even better than those in Europe.

Welder acknowledged having different expectations before visiting India, but he was pleasantly surprised by what he experienced. “Before coming to India, the stereotypes about public transport in the country were demolished or old buses and trains and noisy tuk-tuks and rickshaws,” he wrote.

“I didn’t know that some cities in India like Agra and Delhi actually have a very decent metro system. Delhi even has platform screen doors on some of its lines, plugs to charge your phone and designated seats for women and elderly,” Welder added.

Sharing his experience of commuting in Delhi, Welder wrote, “I stayed in South Delhi and I was also pleasantly surprised that I got a place to sit 80-90% of the time, as long as I didn’t ride the metros at rush hour and stayed away from the city center and tourist hotspots.”

The video garnered over three million views, leaving several content creators surprised. “When you travel you realize the western propaganda about many things,” a user wrote. “Honestly the more I travel the more I think the western world is just a third world country lying to itself,” another user commented.

“Delhi metro is sooo much better than London tube,” a third user reacted.
