One of the most popular coffee chains in the world, Starbucks is known for its range of trendy drinks. Recently, pages and pages of the coffee company’s recipes were uploaded on social media.
It appears that the recipes, taken straight out of the instruction manual, were uploaded across social media by an employee who was fired.
Starbucks considers information about “recipes, formulas, coffee blends” as confidential and should not be “disclosed to anyone outside of the company”.
On Saturday, an X user @IamKalyanRaksha shared a set of these recipe pictures online. So far, this post has over 20,000 likes and over 19,000 bookmarks.
In the comments, many people noted how Starbucks had such retaliation coming because of its union-busting acts in the US. In April, Starbucks fired three union organisers in New York, prompting much criticism.
Echoing this sentiment, an X user wrote, “Recipes!!! Starbucks lovers.. this thread is a gift for y’all!! This is what happens when u treat your employees like trash.. pay them low wages, don’t give them employee benefits n penalize them for forming a union!”.
People also observed that the leaked recipes included high amounts of sugar and very little coffee. “Does Starbucks even have any actual coffee in their drinks I swear it’s straight sugar,” wrote an X user.
While many people revelled in the unknown employee’s petty revenge, a few people observed that this act would barely harm Starbucks’s business because people rarely go to its stores just for coffee.
Expressing this thought, an X user wrote, “It’s not as if tomorrow coke’s formulae gets leaked people would jump to the new seller. It’s a brand connect. People don’t go to Starbucks for the coffee taste alone. It’s for the ambience, their third comfort place (after home and office) and coffee taste is incidental”.
