Dubai princess, who split with husband on Instagram, launches perfume brand ‘Divorce’

Shaikha Mahra Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who divorced her husband Sheikh Mana Bin Mohammed Bin Radhis bin Mana Al Maktoum on Instagram in July, launched her new perfume brand called ‘Divorce’, triggering a chatter on social media.

The 30-year-old unveiled the luxe-looking perfume bottle on Instagram. The video featured a montage of broken glass, a black panther, and black petals with a black bottle engraved with the word “Divorce.”

Reacting to the video, a user wrote, “Really a great step. I admire the process because what would happen if someone else, they would be in grief or depression but a real and true leader is one who overcomes with biggest problems in life with great solutions and answers and set an example for others.” Another user commented, “My God!!! The name, the color, can’t wait!”

In July this year, Shaikha Mahra caused a stir on the Internet after she dumped her husband through an Instagram post. In a note, she wrote, “As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife.”

The former couple married in May 2023 and welcomed their first child, a daughter, twelve months later. They unfollowed each other and removed their wedding photos, igniting a frenzy.

Who is Shaikha Mahra?

Shaikha Mahra is one of the 26 children of the Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice-president and the Prime Minister of the UAE. She is popular for her advocacy for women’s empowerment and support for local UAE designers. She holds a degree in International Relations from a UK university and has also attended the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Administration College.
