Business tycoon Anand Mahindra recently travelled to Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region popular for its winding canals and gondola rides. Mahindra witnessed a familiar traffic situation amid the gondola rides, however, “less stressful”.
Also known as the “Floating City”, “Serenissima,” and the “City of Canals,” Venice ranks third among the 100 popular European cities, according to Forbes.
The Mahindra Group chairman shared a video of the congested canal as several gondolas and boasts queued up to pass through the bridge. The video also captures many tourists clicking photos on the bridge. “Traveled all the way to Venice only to run into a Mumbai-style traffic jam! (Ok, I admit this traffic pile-up is less stressful),” he wrote on X.

Shared on September 15, the video amassed over 120,07,000 views as numerous social media users compared Venice to Indian cities like Delhi and Mumbai. A user wrote, “In monsoons, you can visit Delhi instead of Venice. You will get a similar experience at a fraction of the cost.” Another user commented, “No honking, no pollution… I take this any day.”
“That’s a humorous way to put it! It’s funny how certain experiences, like traffic jams, can be so universally familiar, even in a city as picturesque as Venice. And it’s good to know that this one is a bit more relaxing!” a third user reacted.
