Many of India’s wealthiest individuals hail from the state, and the latest Hurun India Rich List 2025 confirms that Gujarat continues to produce billionaires who shape the country’s economic landscape.
The state, often called the “Jewel of Western India,” is home to 139 individuals on the national list, led by industrial giants such as the Adani family and Pankaj Patel of Zydus Lifesciences. Mukesh Ambani and family, who trace their roots to Gujarat, top the national list with an estimated net worth of Rs 9.55 lakh crore in 2025.
Close behind is Gautam Adani and family, with a net worth of Rs 8.15 lakh crore — making him the richest person based in Gujarat, despite fluctuations in his company’s market value.
Gujarat also ranks among India’s top five states with the most millionaire households — around 68,300 families possess wealth exceeding Rs 8.5 crore. Ahmedabad and Surat lead the state’s list of wealthy cities.
The rise of these billionaires reflects Gujarat’s deep-rooted entrepreneurial culture, strategic investments in high-growth sectors such as energy, ports, and pharmaceuticals, and the dominance of family-run enterprises that continue to shape India’s industrial future.

Samir Mehta and his family, who lead Torrent Group, are among Gujarat’s richest according to the Hurun India Rich List 2025. With a combined wealth of around Rs 62,200 crore, they oversee major businesses in pharmaceuticals and power. Under their leadership, Torrent Pharma and Torrent Power have grown into leading national companies.
The Ahmedabad-based Torrent Group, a diverse conglomerate with substantial holdings in gas, power, and pharmaceuticals, is led by Sudhir Mehta and his brother Samir. The Mehta family is among the top 40 richest people in India, with an estimated net worth of Rs 62,200 crore, according to the Hurun India Rich List 2025.
With a net worth of Rs 55,130 crore, Shahid Bilakhia and his family made their debut on the Hurun India Rich List 2025.
