Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Schedule, IPL 2024 Despite the upheaval of Mahendra Singh Dhoni relinquishing the team’s captaincy to young Ruturaj Gaikwad, defending champions Chennai Super Kings started their IPL 2024 campaign on a winning note after defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in their IPL 2024 opener on March 22 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
While the initial portion of the IPL schedule for the upcoming season was announced in February, the full IPL 2024 schedule was made public on March 25.
This season, the 10 teams have been divided into two groups with teams in the same group to play the five teams in the other group twice in the group stage while playing the other four teams in their own group just once.
Here are the IPL 2024 groups:
GROUP A: Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants
GROUP B: Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans
CSK, led by MS Dhoni, scripted a remarkable turnaround from a lowly 2022 campaign to win the IPL 2023 title, beating Gujarat Titans in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last year. The 42-year-old Dhoni, who has led the team to record-equalling five titles, will be back once again but not as the captain of the franchise in the 17th season of the tournament with Ruturaj Gaikwad leading the side this time around.

The team holds a strong base of Indian players in the side with Dhoni, Jadeja, and Ruturaj Gaikwad being backed up by Ajinkya Rahane, Deepak Chahar, Shivam Dube and Tushar Deshpande. CSK released foreign players like Ben Stokes, Dwaine Pretorius, Kyle Jamieson, and Sisanda Magala ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from the IPL.
