RS bypolls: 4 JD(U) MLAs lose seats for cross-voting

The four MLAs said they would move the Patna High Court.

Bihar Assembly Speaker on Saturday cancelled membership of four rebel JD(U) MLAs, who had cross-voted during Rajya Sabha bypolls.

Though 18 JD (U) MLAs had cross-voted during the RS polls in which all three party candidates eventually managed to win with RJD support, JD (U) had complained to the Speaker about four MLAs — Gyanendra Singh Gyanu (Barh), Niraj Kumar Singh (Chhatapur), Ravindra Rai (Mahua) and Rahul Sharma (Ghoshi).

As per Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary’s ruling, the four MLAs have not only lost their membership, they would also not be “treated as ex MLA” and nor would be “entitled to benefits for a former MLA”.  The four MLAs said they would move the Patna High Court.
