The BJP has said it would seek a division in the Lok Sabha on its amendment on the NCTC on Monday. The party accused the government of buying time by pushing the reply to the debate on the motion of thanks to the Presidents address to Monday,so it could use the weekend to work on allies.
UPA partners like TMC,National Conference and DMK have raised objections on NCTC. We will seek a division when it is taken up on Monday, Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj said. If opposition amendments are carried,it would mean that the government has lost majority,she said.
The kind of atmosphere which is there,it raises questions over the numbers. TMC has objections to NCTC. DMK has protested on the Sri Lanka issue. Even on Telengana,there are differences within Congress MPs. We are only making a political assessment that cohesiveness of the government is not there. We are ready for midterm polls,if it comes, Swaraj said.
Swaraj said the government had put off the PMs reply,scheduled for 5 pm today,until Monday because it is worried about numbers. They are short of numbers. Therefore government is buying time to secure themselves.
In the Lok Sabha later in the evening,Bansal,however,said postponements have happened a number of times in the past,and motives are being attributed without any basis.
