Azam’s protest against Jaya Prada helping Cong candidate

UP Cong President Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that rebel Samajwadi Party leader was helping her party indirectly.

Uttar Pradesh Congress President Rita Bahuguna Joshi said on Tuesday that rebel Samajwadi Party leader was helping her party indirectly in Rampur Lok Sabha elections.

Azam Khan is helping Congress… he is helping us indirectly,” Joshi said while referring to the campaign launched by Khan against Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Prada, who is seeking her second term from the constituency.

Joshi, however, hastened to add that there was no proposal either from the Congress side or from Mohammad Azam Khan for joining her party.

When asked whether Khan could join Congress after elections, she said,”It would be discussed later by the party high command. As of now he is in Samajwadi Party which is contesting elections against us.”

Joshi’s statement comes in the backdrop of Congress leaders making efforts to woo Khan after SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav ticked him off, blaming him of indulging in anti-party activities.
