Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav raised the maximum age limit for appearing in competitive examinations conducted by State Public Service Commission from 35 years to 40 years on Thursday.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mohd Azam Khan made the announcement in the assembly while informing the House about the recommendation of the state cabinet.
Meanwhile,leader of the House Ahmad Hasan told the Legislative Council that keeping in view the interest of the candidates coming from rural background,the state cabinet has recommended increase in the maximum age limit for recruitment in public service and other posts from 35 years to 40 years.
The cabinet passed the proposal by circulation last night,sources said. The demand to increase the age bar is being made since long and a delegation had submitted a memorandum to Akhilesh Yadav during Janata Darbar in this regard.
