At a time when political equations are changing and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is facing stiff challenge from opponents for the first time in seven years,he seems to have succeeded in wooing back his close aide of 24 years and Munger MP Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh.
Singh, once considered second-in-command,was the state JD(U) chief. He had fallen out with Nitish a few months after the 2009 Lok Sabha polls. Singh had then accused Nitish of being autocratic and was suspended for anti-party activities.
With Nitish visiting Lakhisarai in Munger on his Sewa Yatra on Wednesday,it seemed the perfect time to bury the hatchet. The two shared the dais after three years as the JD(U) revoked his suspension.
In his address,Singh said: I seek apology from the CM,who is like my elder brother and guardian. I had lost my way. Now I am back and will be his shield as I was during the 24 years of my association with him.
