According to Dr Shwetal Gadhavi, senior consultant, preventive healthcare, HCG Hospitals, Ahmedabad, its application is not considered an effective treatment for colds or morning sickness. “Colds are primarily caused by viral infections, and morning sickness is a common symptom of early pregnancy, influenced by hormonal changes. Adequate iodine intake is crucial, especially during pregnancy, to prevent developmental issues in the fetus. However, the application of iodine, such as topical use or ingestion in non-prescribed forms, is not recommended for addressing colds or morning sickness,” she said.
