Furniture plays a vital role in the overall aesthetics and functionality of a home. Choosing the right pieces can enhance the atmosphere and mood of a room, making it cosy and inviting. On the contrary, storing thoughtless furniture in your space can make it look cluttered and dishevelled. As such, it’s important to consider the style, size, and colour of the furniture to ensure it complements the space and doesn’t overpower it.
Sajal Lamba, co-founder and director, Wriver concurred that any piece of furniture you select for your home should be high-quality, enhance functionality, and add to the décor. “The furniture you choose should reflect your style, too. It’s best to ask yourself what furniture is needed for different parts of the house,” he said.
So, how to select the right furniture for your home? Multiple factors should be taken into consideration, said Neelam Dewani, Director, Avit Lifestyle. “These include, but are not limited to your home’s size, budget, functionality, aesthetics, quality, and your preferred design style and theme.”
She suggested the following tips:
*Select a theme or décor style.
*Make a list of colours, textures, and patterns, based on the same.
*Do consider your lifestyle and decide what’s more important.
*Pick multi-functional pieces such as folding tables, chairs or pull-out sofas, etc that offer more value within the restricted square footage.
Adding, Lamba suggested asking yourself what furniture is needed for different parts of the house. “For instance, the basics include bedrooms, beds, living room seating, etc. Next, opt for pieces that exude luxury and are comfortable and low maintenance,” he explained.
Here are some other tips by the expert:
*One can go for a pared-back design scheme that is non-fussy yet sophisticated.
*Curvilinear with soft silhouettes and a relaxed vibe, such as bean bags, cushy sofas and lounge chairs work well.
*Make sure you pick pieces that create a cohesive design scheme, ensuring functionality for your everyday tasks.
*You must also be certain to pick sizes and dimensions that create a cosy ambience without making the space seem cluttered or crowded.
*Alongside, the sofas, dining table and chairs should exude opulence and finesse and balance the colour scheme of your home.
“What works for someone else might not work for you, rendering it ideal to be cognizant of your identity while choosing the appropriate furniture for your home. By keeping function, durability, necessity, and aesthetics in mind, you can create great-looking interiors that complement your lifestyle,” she concluded by saying.
