Meeting protein requirements can make all the difference to your fitness goals. It is said that adequate protein can help your body recover quickly. According to nutritionist Lovneet Batra, yellow pea protein is an easy and quick way to add good quality protein to your diet if you’re struggling to have enough protein in your food.

“Especially if you’re working out and struggle to consume protein within the 15-minute recovery window, pea protein can be of great help. It is rich in branched-chain amino acids, especially arginine, for enhanced muscle recovery. After a workout, your body’s protein requirements can increase by 12-25 grams,” said Batra, adding that mixing it with coconut water can enrich your body.

Dr Nirupama Rao, nutritionist, Rejua Energy Centre, Mumbai elucidated that mixing pea protein with coconut water creates a beverage that combines plant-based protein with the hydrating and electrolyte-rich properties of coconut water.

According to Batra, high protein content in peas aids in appetite control by delaying gastric emptying, moderating glucose absorption, and triggering appetite-regulating hormones.

“Low glycemic index (GI) helps stabilise blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of obesity and benefiting those with or at risk of diabetes,” said Batra, adding, “Packed with bioactive small peptides, it can provide antioxidant benefits“.
