Rakul Preet Singh raises the fitness bar with latest workout: ‘Consistency is key’

Rakul Preet Singh has always strived to amp up her fitness routine. It was the same this time, with the Thank God actor — who is married to producer-actor Jackky Bhagnani — acing a challenging leg workout with weights. “Workout done right!! Balance and consistency is the key,” Rakul captioned her reel on Instagram.

To learn more about the benefits of doing leg exercises with weights, we turned to fitness expert Garima Goyal who told us that such exercises help develop the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes, helping to develop strength and size in these muscle groups.

“With proper form, weighted exercises can be effective for specific muscle groups without involving other parts of the body. Strengthening the muscles around the hips and lower back improves posture by providing better support to the spine,” said Goyal.

Notably, strong leg muscles improve functional movements like walking, running, and climbing stairs, promoting daily activities and reducing the risk of injuries. “Leg workouts engage large muscle groups, leading to increased calorie burn during and after exercise. This can support weight management and overall metabolic health too,” Goyal said.

She added that weight training, including leg exercises, triggers the release of hormones like growth hormone.

According to Goyal, leg exercises help stabilise knee and hip joints, reducing the risk of injuries and enhancing overall joint health. “Strong leg muscles are crucial for various sports and activities, contributing to improved agility, speed, and overall athletic performance,” said Goyal.

Combining weight training with proper stretching promotes flexibility in the leg muscles, reducing muscle tightness and improving the range of motion. Goyal stressed that form and gradual progression in weight are crucial to maximise benefits while minimising the risk of injury.
