Navigating relationships, whether they be friendships or romantic unions, often demands letting go of one’s ego and embracing each other’s triumphs and tribulations. Sameera Reddy, who often shares her thoughts on interpersonal relationships and lifestyle, recently shared her insights on these power struggles and ensuring the smooth sailing of your relationship.

“There are so many marriages that are judged. Couples have different power struggles at different points and they break. I think it’s because they give into the fact that the formula is set and a formula has to be followed for it to be successful. but, break that. There are many times when your partner is going to shine more than you or earn more than you and then the whole balance might change,” she said, in a podcast titled ‘Limitless’.

However, Sameera believes that beauty lies in that balance. “The beauty is in not having the ego and knowing that there are certain things you do better and there are certain things that he does better. And then, you know, you make that sort of work for you,” the actor-influencer said.

She added that nowadays, the success of a marriage is considered to be dependent on a lot of outside factors. However, she asserted that these are all the wrong factors.

Further opening up about her candid avatar on social media, Sameera said, “I am on social media and I try to be as honest as I can get because there are so many people listening. It’s such a powerful medium. If you are not telling them the truth, you are selling them a lie.”

If people buy into the lies they see on social media, they will feel bad about their own lives, she said. “What’s going on behind the doors is a completely different situation for most people.”

For this podcast episode, Sameera sat down with Viji Venkatesh, Regional Head for India and South Asia at The Max Foundation, and the mind (and heart) behind the ‘Chai for Cancer’ initiative.
