Bihar’s former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and his wife Rachel aka Rajshree announced the birth of their son on Tuesday, May 27. It is the couple’s second child after they were blessed with a daughter, Katyayini, in March 2023.

Making the announcement on social media, the former deputy CM wrote, “Good Morning! The wait is finally over!  So grateful, blessed and pleased to announce the arrival of our little boy. Jai Hanuman!” The baby boy was born in a Kolkata hospital. RJD supremo Lalu Prasad also accompanied his son and daughter-in-law to the hospital.

Tejashwi Yadav got married to Rachel Codinho, his batchmate from DPS RK Puram, in 2021. Rachel, who belongs to Haryana’s Rewari, later changed her name to Rajshree Yadav.

Tejashwi Yadav often opened up his inter-faith marriage in the context of his party reaching out to “people of all communities”.

This comes as tensions remain on high in the Yadav family, after RJD chief Lalu Yadav expelled his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav from the party and family, after the latter announced his relationship with a woman from the past 12 years.

Tej Pratap announced his relationship via a social media post, but quickly backtracked, saying that his account was hacked his photo with the woman was edited. However, Lalu Prasad Yadav said in a statement that his son’s actions were “irresponsible” and not in accordance with public conduct.

RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav’s announcement of his relationship came as his divorce petition  with estranged wife Aishwarya remains pending before a family court in Patna. Yadav got married to Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Prasad Rai, in 2018. However, Rai left the Yadav house just a few months after marriage, alleging harassment.
