K Kavitha resignation news: A day after K Kavitha, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC and daughter of party supremo K Chandrashekar Rao, was suspended from the regional party, she said she has resigned from the primary membership of the BRS, which was in power in Telangana for ten years starting 2014. She also said she has resigned from the MLC post that she is holding.
While she has not clarified whether she would start her own political party, she said she “would not even think of joining another party”. “I have worked for Telangana and BRS for the past 20 years of my life. When I came into the Telangana agitation, I was 27, and now I am 47. I have given most of my life to the cause of Telangana and BRS,” she said.
Fighting back tears, Kavitha, who held a press conference in Hyderabad on Wednesday, said, “There is a conspiracy to break the Kalvakuntla family and the BRS.” Asking her father, KCR, to “check who he is surrounded by”, she said her cousins and BRS leaders T Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar have a role in her ouster from the party.
Accusing the duo of deep-rooted corruption, Kavitha alleged, “Golden Telangana does not mean gold reaching the houses of Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar.”
While Harish Rao, her cousin, is a former irrigation minister in Telangana, Santosh Kumar is an ex-Rajya Sabha MP of the party.
“Today I have been sidelined in the party. Tomorrow it could be anyone, including KCR,” she said. “If it is not out of corruption from the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, how did Harish Rao amass wealth?” she alleged, adding he used this to fund his political campaigns.
While she said that KT Rama Rao, her brother and the working president of the BRS, has not asked her what her issues in the party are, he and her father, too, could be next in line for ouster from the BRS. “Sitting in Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters, I, as a woman leader of the party, said that there are vicious forces who are targeting me from the party. As the working president of the party, why did he (KT Rama Rao) not call me? It has been 103 days since I first raised the issue of being targeted,” she said.
KCR and KTR are surrounded by vested interests who are in cahoots with the Telangana Chief Minister and the Congress leader A Revanth Reddy, she claimed. While criminal cases are being slapped on KTR and KCR, Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar are enjoying the support of the Congress, she claimed, adding, “The anti-corruption bureau in the state is silent when it comes to them.”
Sitting amidst teeming groups of supporters at her NGO and cultural organisation, Telangana Jagruthi’s office, she said, “I have been working continuously for the party, covering ground. I have worked for the Gurukul schools, the Backwards Classes, Dalits, Adivasis, women and several weaker sections. Which part of my activity was anti-party?”
In the disciplinary committee notice served to Kavitha on Tuesday, she was accused of “anti-party activities”. She said that she has been working for “people’s Telangana” and “golden Telangana” just as her father guided her to. “How can these be anti-party activities?” she asked.
