Rajasthan’s first rural court inaugurated

Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily inaugurated Rajasthan’s first gram nyayalaya at a subordinate court premises in Bassi town of the district.

“The gram nyayalaya is the concept for taking justice to the village door-step and will prove helpful in decreasing pendency of the cases,” Moily said on the occasion.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was also present at the event,where both leaders laid the foundation stone for the building.

The state government,which has targeted to set up 135 rural courts,has sanctioned 45 new ones,he said.

Gehlot said that the state government was targeting to open one rural court at each panchayat samiti headquarters for providing justice at local level.

Later,Moily delivered the key note address in a symposium titled ‘Achieving Constitutional Goals of Equality and Social Justice – Contribution of Courts’ here organised by Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority.
