CBSE Recruitment 2026: Registration begins —dates, exam rules, selection process & more

CBSE has announced 124 vacancies across Group A, B and C non-teaching posts. The recruitment covers positions such as Assistant Secretary, Assistant Director, Accounts Officer, Superintendent, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Accountant and Junior Assistant.

CBSEWith subsequent approval from the controlling authority, the Ministry of Education, the Board will operationalise these offices between August and September 2025.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started the online registration process for CBSE Recruitment 2026. According to the official notice, the application window opened on December 2 and will remain active until December 22. Candidates are required to complete both the application submission and fee payment by December 22, up to 11.59 pm.

CBSE Direct Recruitment 2026: Vacancy details

As per the schedule released, online registration and form submission are permitted only till December 22. The same deadline applies to the payment of examination fees, which must also be completed by 11.59 pm on December 22.

CBSE Recruitment 2026: Tier-1 marking scheme

The notification outlines the marking pattern for the Tier-1 examination. Each correct answer will carry three marks, while one mark will be deducted for every incorrect response. No marks will be awarded for questions left unanswered.

The Board has also stated that each question will have only one valid answer, and in cases where a candidate marks more than one option, the response will be treated as incorrect, attracting a penalty of one mark. This marking scheme will apply uniformly to all candidates appearing for the Tier-1 test.

Documents required

Candidates appearing for the examination must carry specific documents to the test centre. The Board has stated that entry will not be permitted without these essential documents. Applicants must bring a printed copy of the admit card downloaded from the CBSE website, along with one passport-size photograph identical to the one uploaded in the application form.

In addition, candidates must carry an original, valid and non-expired photo identity proof such as a PAN card, Driving Licence, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar card with photograph, E-Aadhaar with photograph or a ration card bearing a photograph. Those applying under the PwBD category must bring their disability certificate issued by an authorised medical officer.

If they are seeking relaxation under the PwBD category, they must also carry the certificate related to physical limitation for writing, as specified in the Information Bulletin, along with the prescribed Letter of Undertaking if they intend to use their own scribe.

Shortlisting and final selection criteria

CBSE has detailed the criteria for shortlisting candidates for Tier-2 and subsequent stages. For OBC and EWS candidates, the cut-off marks for both Tier-1 and Tier-2 will be five per cent lower than the cut-off determined for the unreserved category.

For SC, ST and PwBD applicants, the cut-off will be ten per cent below the UR category threshold. The Board has also reserved the right to further reduce the cut-off or shortlisting criteria for Tier-2, interviews or skill tests if the required number of candidates is not available in specific categories.

However, the notification notes that no candidate securing less than 30 per cent of the maximum marks in either Tier-1 or Tier-2 will be considered for the final selection process, regardless of category.
