Forget UN,India and Pak must talk,says Hurriyat

The Hurriyat has so far been pressing for the implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir.

The Mirwaiz said such a dialogue process has to be time bound as “bilaterialism between the two countries has failed to make any progress”.

The Hurriyat chairman,however,said that the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be supreme while finding a solution to Kashmir issue.

“We have to impress upon India and Pakistan that whether the UN resolutions are implemented or not,Kashmiris are determined to continue their struggle for settlement of the Kashmir issue and they are the masters of their destiny,” he said.

Former Chairman of the Hurriyat Abdul Gani Bhat said while the UN resolutions provide the basis for resolution of Kashmir dispute,implementing these would be a difficult task in view of the conditions set within the resolutions.

“The UN resolutions are clear that Kashmiris are the masters of their destiny and any talks for resolving the issue should be based on this premise,” Bhat said.

JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik,who was a special invitee to the seminar,said,”There should be no conditions attached while people of Jammu and Kashmir decide their future.

“If they decide to go with India or Pakistan,we will be with that decision,” he said.
