KCR suffers hip fracture after fall in washroom; surgery successful,says daughter

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief slipped and fell in the washroom at his farmhouse in Siddipet district’s Erravalli village after midnight.

Kavitha, an MLC, said that her father suffered a minor hip bone injury and is under expert care. “The surgery was successful and he is fine now,”’ she said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy wished a speedy recovery for the BRS founder. PM Modi wrote on ‘X’ that he was “distressed to know that former Telangana CM Shri KCR Garu has suffered an injury. I pray for his speedy recovery and good health.”

BRS leaders close to KCR’s family said that the 69-year-old was rushed to a private hospital in Secunderabad early on Friday.

“He fell in the washroom and suffered a hairline fracture on hip last night. His health is otherwise fine. X-rays and tests are being conducted and doctors will perform a surgery,” Kavitha told The Indian Express earlier in the day.
In a health bulletin before the surgery, Yashoda Hospital said, “On evaluation, including CT scans, he was found to have a left hip fracture (intracapsular neck of femur fracture). He would require left hip replacement for the same and the usual course of recovery for such cases is expected to be six to eight weeks.”

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy directed officials to monitor KCR’s health and keep him updated on the condition of the former CM. On the CM’s directions, officials met KCR and inquired about his health.

KCR had moved to his farmhouse over the weekend after his party lost to the Congress in the November 30 Assembly elections. He had submitted his resignation to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and vacated the residence and office where he had been staying for the past nine years. In the last few days, KCR had been meeting party leaders at the farmhouse.

Winning 64 out of the 119 seats, the Congress dislodged the BRS, which could win only 39 seats, denying KCR a record third term. KCR, who had contested from two seats, won from Gajwel but lost from Kamareddy.
Rao’s office said his wife Sobhamma, son Rama Rao, daughter Kavitha and other family members were with him.
