Woman gangraped in moving car

Police have filed a case based on the victim's complaint but no arrests have been made so far.

A 40-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by two youths in a moving car in Meerut, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon when the woman, a mother of four, had come to the city to buy some medicines, they said.

The two youths, identified as Sanjeev and Manoj, offered the woman a ride home at Begumpul and gave her soft drink laced with sedatives, police said, adding, the victim became unconscious after having the drink following which the duo raped her.

The men, hailing from Ghat village, later dumped her near the Jaani canal in Meerut and fled, police said. The woman, from Mawana police station area, was admitted to a hospital late on Saturday night after a patrolling police team found her found lying unconscious.

Police have filed a case based on the victim’s complaint but no arrests have been made so far.
