One held for ‘planning attack’ on Mumbai school

The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad has arrested a Kurla resident on suspicion of planning an attack on an American school in the Bandra Kurla Complex.

ATS sources confirmed that the suspect, identified as Anis Ansari (26), was a resident of Kurla. “The suspect was arrested after he was observed to be talking about blowing up an American school in BKC while chatting with some others on Facebook. This is preliminary information and the extent and seriousness are currently being investigated. He was produced in court on Sunday and has been remanded in custody till October 28,” said a source.

An officer added that Ansari has been booked for conspiracy to commit murder under the Indian Penal Code as well as under relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act, and that further investigations, including analysis of the contents of his computer, were underway.
