Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday asked his National Conference workers to act as a bridge between the administration and the people for the welfare and progress of the state.

“You need to render extraordinary service to people to mitigate their difficulties and act as a bridge between the administration and the people through welfare and progress of the state,” Omar, who is also working president of the National Conference, said while addressing party office bearers from Pulwama district,Srinagar.

Describing National Conference as a movement of the people rather than a mere political party, the Chief Minister asked party workers to give a “befitting reply” to detractors of the party by exhibiting unity, solidarity and commitment to the public welfare.

“You are the torch bearers of great legacy of Sher-i-Kashmir,Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and his companions.

Your party considers power only a means to address and redress the socio-economic and political issues,” he said.

Omar said National Conference has passed through many vicissitudes and faced various challenges of the time successfully.

“The party and its workers have always steered people of Jammu and Kashmir through difficult periods by giving great sacrifices,” he said.
