Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Monday, said the country needs to be vigilant against evil forces.

Addressing the ‘Sardar@150 Unity March’ held from Ujjayanta Palace to Hapania International Ground in West Tripura district, CM Saha said, “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel made India united, but some evil forces both within and outside India are now trying to weaken the country. We need to keep watch on them and motivate the youths to fight against them. He (Sardar Patel) used to believe that our power is our unity in diversity.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to instil patriotism and a sense of responsibility among the young generation. The youth should make India self-reliant through everyday action,” CM Saha added.

Highlighting the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the political unification of India, CM Saha said, “Between 1947 and 1949, nearly 562 princely states were merged into the Indian Union, and it became possible due to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was the then Union Home Minister. He was a symbol of unity and solidarity. After 2014, PM Modi has given Sardar Patel due respect by declaring his birth anniversary as National Unity Day.”
