Pune news today Highlights: Won’t seek Narayan Rane’s custody now, say Pune Police; Saamana justifies arrest

Pune latest news today: Earlier in the day, Pune City Police said that they will not immediately seek police custody of Union Minister and BJP Rajya Sabha member Narayan Rane, who was arrested and released on bail.

Pune News Live Updates: Pune Police is not planning to immediately seek custody of Union Minister and BJP Rajya Sabha member Narayan Rane, who was arrested on Tuesday by Maharashtra Police for his remarks against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, and released on bail by a court in Mahad in Raigad district later. When asked whether Pune City police will arrest and seek custody of Narayan Rane, Pune City Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta said, “Not immediately.”

The FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), Pune chapter, recently lit up iconic military installations in the city as a mark of respect for the Indian Army while commemorating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. Usha Poonawalla, chairperson, FICCI FLO, Pune chapter, said as a part of this initiative, permanent Tricolour lighting has been installed at the entrance of Southern Command, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Statue, National War Memorial, the Clock Tower and the late General Arunkumar Vaidya Smarak. Most of these installations are located in Camp in the city.

Meanwhile, Pune district on Tuesday reported 881 new Covid cases, and 13 deaths. A total of 772 patients also recovered and the active cases in the city stand at 7,804. On Tuesday, 24,348 samples tested.

TOKYO Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra interacted with budding athletes and sportspersons at the Army Sports Institute (ASI), where, among other topics, he discussed with them the importance of working on one’s physical and mental fitness, especially after sustaining injuries.
