A thali restaurant with a uniquely Rajasthani menu,Rajdhani has an interesting mélange of dishes on offer in the mango season. From aamras and kairi panna to kairi ki chutney and amrakhand,you can take your pick from the varied offerings. “We make aamras with the choicest Alphonso mangoes and the final product is a delicious,melt-in-the-mouth preparation. A take-off from shrikhand,the amrakhand is,to put it plainly,shrikhand made with ripe mangoes,and it’s a favourite of most customers,” says Chef Malaram Devasi. Taj Blue Diamond,Koregaon Road
Executive Chef Amarendra Mishra and his team has prepared an interesting line-up of mango delights in the coming days at Taj Blue Diamond’s forthcoming Mango Festival. “There’s a whole host of recipes,right from Mango and Bitter Chocolate Cheesecake,Mango Vanilla and Chocolate Sundae,Fresh Mango Swiss Roll and Fresh Mango Mousse that guests can indulge in at the Mango Festival,” says Mishra. Also on offer are such varied preparations as Mango Crème Brulee,Baked Mango Rasgulla,Mango Malai Lassi and the regular summer fare — Fresh Mango with Ice-cream. Made from the freshest ingredients,this spread is sure to make your mouth water just at the mention of the dishes.

Sun-n-Sand,Bund Garden
The mango recipes on offer here are solely in desserts,with Chef Prashant Admane recommending Mango Panna Cotta and Mango Cobbler. “Other than these two dishes,we also have Mango Cheesecake,Mango Rabri,Mango Phirni and of course,a whole range of Mango Smoothies and Mango Pastries. We’ve tried to concentrate only on desserts this time and not go in for inclusion of mango in the main course,” informs Admane. So,try out the Mango Panna Cotta (Italian Cheesecake) and the Mango Cobbler (a special baked mango recipe) as a good way to beat the summer heat and consume some delicious treats made from the juiciest mangoes.

Right from the welcome drink to desserts,mango has been used across the foodie spectrum at this restaurant. As Executive Chef Kiran Patil says,“We have chats made of raw papaya and mango,panna – a welcome drink made from raw mango,mango mocktails and smoothies,Kairi Murg (Green mango with chicken) and Raw Mango Pachadi (Mango and coconut chutney) for the main course.” Other than these delicious mango recipes,there’s Grilled Fish and Grilled Prawns in Raw Mango Curry and Fresh Mango and Coconut Salsa,served as an accompaniment. “To go with our Chinese preparations,we have Tempura with Mango Sambal (Fresh mango pulp and chopped mango pieces) and for desserts,we have Fresh Mango and Cardamom Cheesecake,Fresh Mango Mousse and Cut Mango with Ice-cream,” adds Patil.

Sigree,Dhole Patil Road
There’s something about aamras that brings out the best in a traditional Indian restaurant. Though aamras isn’t exclusive to any particular region in India,some Pune restaurants prepare it authentically,Sigree being one of them. Executive Chef Mohd Ismail says apart from the aamras,which the favourite of most customers,there’s a choice of Mango Mousse and Kairi ka Panna. “In the main course,there are a total of 10 items,vegetarian and non-vegetarian,among which Mango Souk is what I recommend,” says Ismail. “Apart from the five vegetarian and five non-vegetarian dishes,among which mango curries with fish and prawn are a must-have,there are the usual preparations like mango milkshakes and smoothies to cater to the high demand for this evergreen fruit,” he adds.
