Foxconn keen on investing in mobile, tablets, TVs in Maharashtra: CM Devendra Fadnavis

China’s leading electronic goods manufacturer Foxconn has expressed its desire to invest in Maharashtra. On the first day of his China tour, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Thursday met Foxconn founder Terry Gou and his team, besides a Chinese business delegation.

Describing the meeting with Gou as “extremely fruitful”, Fadnavis said, “I am happy to know from Terry Gou that Foxconn is keen to invest in Maharashtra for data centres, mobile phones, tablets, television and other electronic goods.”

Foxconn presented a detailed plan on its proposed investments in Maharashtra. Fadnavis said, “The Foxconn team appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Clean India and Digital India initiatives.”

Earlier, upon his arrival in China, the CM travelled from Chengdu to Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, where he was accorded a warm welcome by Governor Xie Fuzhan and his governing council.

The discussion with Fuzhan was centred around promoting more collaboration at state and city levels. Fadnavis said, “We discussed the similarities between our state’s cities and Henan Province and how we can replicate the airport lead development model in Maharashtra.”

He said Fuzhan was keen on developing cultural and business relations with Maharashtra.
