‘Rape’ follow-up: Issue passes to girls going to toilet, says DEO

Following the rape, headmistress and two teachers were also suspended.

However, objecting to the suspension of teachers, various associations of teachers met the DEO on Friday and handed over a memorandum saying that it was not a justified decision. Sukhwinder Singh Leel, secretary of District Employees Front, said, “We have given a memorandum to DEO and DC as well. Teachers should not have been suspended without conducting an inquiry.”

Asserting that doctors could not find any injury marks over the girl’s body, though she had complained about rape, the teachers stated that the suspension was a hasty decision and it must be reconsidered.
