I have never been one to stay still for very long. Straitjacketed, handcuffed, locked in steamer trunks, dropped in water-filled containers, and suspended over city streets I like to keep myself busy. Thats Harry Houdini speaking, the 19th century magician who now makes a reappearance in a graphic novel on his life published by Campfire. In yet another graphic novel, the Wright Brothers recall the building of the first airplane. Keshav Thirani, who set up the publishing house two years ago to produce graphic novels for 7-15year olds, says that figures like Houdini are generally excluded from the syllabus of children. Yet,the had magical lives, he adds as he flips through the lavishly drawn sketches of the graphic novel.
Campfire also caters to fiction, there are graphic novels on Tom Sawyer,Huckleberry Finn and other timeless stories. We even produce mythology titles, including legends from India and across the world, says Thirani. The price is Rs 135. http://www.campfire.co.in
