LDA cancels allotments in Jankipuram

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) today decided to cancel the allotment and registration of nearly 460 properties allotted in Jankipuram Residential Scheme through alleged fraud, connivance and tampering of documents between 1992 and 1996.

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) today decided to cancel the allotment and registration of nearly 460 properties allotted in Jankipuram Residential Scheme through alleged fraud, connivance and tampering of documents between 1992 and 1996.

The CBI had conducted an inquiry in the matter.

The decision came amidst the officials’ proposal for regularisation of these properties.

In February 2008,LDA had lodged an FIR against 14 of its former officials for their involvement in the alleged scam. LDA had charged the accused with connivance, fraud and tampering of documents.

The investigations revealed that properties were allotted without registration and fake allotment letters were issued. “In some cases, registries were done but no amount was deposited in the LDA account,” an official said. The allotments, the official added, took place mainly in sectors G,H,I,C and F and cost the LDA around Rs 2 crore.

The board has also decided to change the use of 2.136 hectares of land in Janeshwar Mishra park from residential to “park, open spaces and green belt”.
