THE ALIGARH district administration Friday sealed a private hospital after complaints that a the caesarean section surgery of a woman patient – who is suspected to be HIV positive – was done “without following due process,” officials said on Saturday.

The woman was admitted to the hospital after she complained of severe stomach pain. She was later shifted to a government hospital and is now stable, officials said.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Aligarh, Neeraj Tyagi, said that after the complaint was received, a team of district administration officials reached the private hospital and found that no official representing the hospital authorities was present.

The staff present at the hospital were unable to provide the relevant documents regarding the patient’s condition or treatment. The administrative team then informed the state health department.

He added that other patients were also shifted to another hospital.
