The Telangana High Court on September 2 dismissed the criminal cases against three Ayurveda doctors who were accused of practising allopathic medicine, and ruled that the Telangana State Medical Council (TMC) did not follow the proper legal procedures. The cases were quashed by Justice N Tukaramji in a significant judgment, the copy of which was made public on Thursday.

While the court quashed the criminal cases, the ruling did not give the doctors a complete pass.

The court made it clear that the Telangana State Medical Council still has the authority to take action, and for that, it must first follow the right procedure by referring the matter to the Commissioner of AYUSH and then, if necessary, filing a new police complaint with all the required evidence and details.

The doctors were booked in May 2025 based on a complaint by the Medical Council that conducted a surprise inspection at the clinics run by the accused in Cyberabad and Rangareddy.
